- Correct colors.
- Choose Image > Adjustments > Selective colors.
Use following settings:
- Reds
Yellow: 12%
Black: -20% - Greens:
Yellow: 42% - Whites:
Yellow: 14%
Black: -79% - Neutrals:
Cyan: -6%
Magenta: 6%
Yellow: 6%
Black: -4% - Colors: blacks:
Black: 2% - Apply Color Overlay Layer style effect to this layer effect, use settings just like in the example below.
- Duplicate hippo body layer.
- Choose Filter > Other > High Pass
Radius: 0.8 pixels
- Change Blending Mode: Overlay
Master Opacity: 70%.
- Merge hippo body layers.
- Select Dodge Tool
Set current brush: master diameter: 81 pixels, Exposure 15.
Use Dodge Tool to process shiny areas: ears & eyes and other shiny parts.
- Duplicate hippo layer.
- Make it black and white. Image > Adjustments > Black & White.
- Go to Image > Adjustments > Levels, move black left and right white markers to center.
- Erase some areas just like on the screen shot.
- Choose Screen Blending Mode for this layer and Opacity 25%.
- Create wing silhouette using Pen Tool and Convert Point Tool .
- Load selection for created wing and move it to hippo body.
- Copy selected area and place it into a new layer. Copy small shade and light areas from the hippo's body and place them above wing layer.
- Process light and dark areas to create volume effect using Burn and Dodge tools.
